Blue Detox aka Digital Detox

Ever feel guilty that you are constantly plugged in? Our smartphones have become like invisible shields against reality that cause us to be disconnected and less focused. I tried a digital detox and I hope  that sharing my experience will inspire others to do the same! I put my phone in a box and shutting out the digital world for a whole week. I noticed my energy level goes up, I felt more approachable and open to conversation with everyone around me. I even slept better and my anxiety improved because I wasn’t worried about checking emails.  I found I was really living in the present!

 

Tips for your digital detox:

  • Remember why you are doing it. Find a purpose and set one goal you want to accomplish during each detox.  For example, checking email one time per day, stepping away from social media an entire week, or using an alarm clock that isn’t your phone.
  • Set boundaries by picking a time of the day when you step away from or shut off your phone. For instance, you may want to not use your phone during the work day or at home in the evening.
  • The biggest benefits I noticed were a result of avoiding phone use before bed!
  • Use blue light blocking glasses, during your detox. These glasses are great for daily use, and they are  really healthy for you. ou likely will see yourself using them daily!
